Midsize Jetsfor Sale

New and pre-owned prices, the models to shortlist and what to check before you buy.

Midsize jets add what light jets lack: a cabin you can stand up in, or nearly, room for eight or nine people with bags, and the range to fly four to six hours non-stop. London to Moscow, New York to Aspen or Dubai to Cairo sit within reach.

The market splits in two. New-generation aircraft such as the Citation Latitude and Praetor 500 offer flat floors, quiet cabins and modern avionics. Older types such as the Hawker 800XP, Learjet 60XR and Falcon 50EX cost a fraction of the price and still fly the same routes, with higher maintenance bills.

Before you buy

What to check on midsize jets

Production and support

Bombardier stopped building Learjets in 2022, and Hawker jets are no longer produced. Parts and service remain available, but check the cost of the next major inspection and any parts with long lead times.

Engine programs

Honeywell TFE731 engines on Hawkers and Falcons, and PW300-series engines on newer jets, are commonly on hourly programs. Program coverage often makes a $1 million difference to value on an older midsize jet.

Major inspections

Many midsize jets have large inspections at 6 or 12 years. Buying just after one is done is often the best value; buying just before one means a six-figure bill in your first year.

Cabin and connectivity

Older interiors and satellite connectivity systems cost $300,000 to $1 million to refresh. Price a refurbishment into any offer on an aircraft over fifteen years old.

The Citation Latitude and Challenger 300 are the most traded aircraft of this size, so you have plenty of choice and resale is liquid. Older Hawkers offer the cheapest cabin space in business aviation, and buyers who accept their maintenance profile get a lot of aircraft for the money.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a midsize jet cost?
New midsize jets cost about $14 million to $20 million. Pre-owned jets five to fifteen years old sell for about $5 million to $12 million, and older types such as the Hawker 800XP start at about $1.5 million.
What is the cheapest midsize jet to operate?
Newer jets such as the Citation Latitude and Praetor 500 burn less fuel and have lower maintenance per hour. Older jets cost less to buy but more to maintain, so compare the five-year total cost.
How far can a midsize jet fly?
About 4,600 to 6,000 km non-stop, or five to seven hours, depending on the type and load.
Can you stand up in a midsize jet?
In most, nearly. The Citation Latitude has a flat floor and a cabin about 1.83 m tall, and the Challenger 300 has similar headroom. Older types are lower.
