Flying private to Art Basel
Art Basel is served by the EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg, a single airport on French soil with a Swiss sector and a short drive to Messe Basel. Zurich, about an hour away by road, is the backup when the EuroAirport ramp is full.
Collectors arrive for the preview days before the public opening, so the busiest arrival days come earlier in the week than the fair dates suggest.
Private jet traffic
Counted dailyOn a normal day about 48 private jets are on the ground at BSL + ZRH. Watch the count climb for Art Basel.
- Event days
- Other days
- A normal day (same weekday, 4 weeks before)
Business jets seen on the ground at BSL and ZRH each day, from public ADS-B signals. A jet counts once per airport per day, so one that stays three days counts on each. Jets that do not broadcast a position are missed, so real numbers are higher. Anonymous: no registration, owner or flight is stored. Today is the count so far.
Before you book
- Plan to arrive for the preview days if you have VIP access; that is when the ramp peaks.
- Use the Swiss side of the EuroAirport to stay in Switzerland without customs detours.
- Zurich works as a backup and adds about an hour by road.
